## Cooking today

The Dashboard is the start screen. It shows at a glance what is cooking today, when you next go shopping and how your recipes are doing.

*[Image: The Dashboard with today's dish, the next shopping day, the recipes awaiting a verdict, the week and the cooking statistics.]*

**1** shows what is planned for today. **2** starts cooking straight away. **3** counts down to the next shopping day. **4** lists the recipes still being tested. **5** shows the current week. **6** ranks the recipes you cook most often.

The first card answers the daily question: what are we cooking tonight? Each dish planned for today appears with its picture, category and cooking time. The heading adds up the number of dishes and the total time.

- Tap the dish to open its recipe page.
- Tap **Cook** to open the recipe directly in [cooking mode](https://docs.gdc-world.net/recipe-book/recipe/#cooking), one step at a time.

### Nothing planned yet

If nothing is planned for today, the card says so and offers **Suggest a meal for today**. The planning assistant then picks a dish from your active recipes.

- **Plan it** puts the suggestion into today's plan.
- **Reroll** asks for a different suggestion.
- The ✕ button discards the suggestion.

If nothing suitable is left, the card says there is no suggestion and offers **Try again**. More about suggestions for single days: [Planning assistant](https://docs.gdc-world.net/recipe-book/planning-assistant/#day-suggestions).

## Next shopping day

This card tells you when you next go shopping and how well the days after it are planned, so you can see whether there is still planning to do.

- The date of the next shopping day and how far away it is (today, tomorrow or in a few days).
- The **Cycle**: the days from that shopping day up to the day before the next one.
- How many days of that cycle are still empty, or that every day is planned.

**Open the planner** takes you to the planner. Your shopping days are set in [Settings](https://docs.gdc-world.net/recipe-book/settings/#planning); how they shape the plan is explained under [Shopping day](https://docs.gdc-world.net/recipe-book/planner/#shopping-day).

## Awaiting a verdict

New recipes start in the **Testing** status. This card lists up to five of them, so you remember to try them and decide whether they are worth keeping.

The badge shows how many recipes are in testing. Each row shows the rating so far, or **not rated yet**. Tap a recipe to open it.

How a recipe leaves testing is explained under [Status](https://docs.gdc-world.net/recipe-book/recipes/#phases).

## This week at a glance

A strip of seven days shows what is planned this week. It starts on your shopping day, just like the week in the planner.

- Today is highlighted.
- Shopping days carry a small shopping-cart symbol.
- A dash means nothing is planned for that day yet.

Tap a day to open the planner on that day, for example to [add a recipe](https://docs.gdc-world.net/recipe-book/planner/#add).

## Statistics

Three cards show which recipes you actually cook. They are counted from your plans: a recipe planned on a day before today counts as cooked once. Today's plan is not counted yet.

- **Most cooked**: your top five, with how often and when you last cooked them.
- **Needs a turn**: the five active recipes you cook least, never-cooked ones first. Handy when you want more variety.
- **Highest rated**: the four recipes with the most stars. Archived recipes are left out.

Tap any recipe to open it.

## Favourites and new recipes

Two cards give quick access to recipes you want to find again.

- **Recently added**: the four newest recipes in your recipe book.
- **Favorites**: every recipe you have marked with the heart. Tap a name to open the recipe.

To mark a favourite, tap the heart on a [recipe card](https://docs.gdc-world.net/recipe-book/recipes/#cards) or on the recipe page.
